Ant anxiety drugs: Due to their action on the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA, the tranquilizer (i.e. the benzodiazepines) is thought to affect the brain at various levels. The range of behavioral response to adverse stimuli is narrowed by tranquilizers.
Antidepressants (e.g. the MAO inhibitors) production of a long lasting rise in the concentration of NE, DA and SHT is the probable mode of action of these drugs. Grater release of neurohormone is not necessarily the outcome of more in storage, but it is known that potentiating of NE and SHT on the synapse is caused by MAO inhibitors.
